View of Florence from top of Giottos Bell Tower
Florence is home of the Renaissance and birthplace of the modern world. Wealthy because of its cloth industry, trade, and banking; filled with intense city-state pride; full of artistic geniuses (Michelangelo and Leonardo), Florence was a natural home for this cultural expansion. This view is taken from the top of Giottos Bell Tower, which is next door to Florences Duomo (famous for Brunelleschis magnificent dome). It is 82 meters (413 steps) to the top.
